Psychostimulants for the Non-Psychiatrist

Jason Beaman, DO is the Chair of the Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Department at Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences. Dr. Beaman completed his medical degree at Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He then completed two simultaneous residencies in Psychiatry and Family Medicine, a fellowship in Forensic Psychiatry at Case Western Reserve University, a master’s in Pharmacology with an emphasis in Forensics at the University of Florida, and a Master’s in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Beaman is board certified in Psychiatry, Family Medicine, Forensic Psychiatry, and Addiction Medicine. He is also Event Chair for the Psychiatry in Primary Care program.

Non-Pharmaceutical Management of Insomnia

Dr. David Chang will be speaking on insomnia. He is currently on sabbatical, but was formally the medical director at the Polyclinic Sleep Medicine Center. Dr. Chang completed his medical degree at the Indiana University School of Medicine and is board certified in sleep medicine.

Dr. Reagan Gill will be speaking on anxiety. Dr. Gill is a forensic psychiatrist and clinical assistant professor at Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences. She completed her medical degree at Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and is board certified in psychiatry.

Sarah McClanahan

Sarah McClanahan, DO

Antipsychotics for Primary Care

Dr. Sarah McClanahan is the Executive Director for Behavioral Health at Saint Francis Health System. Dr. McClanahan completed her medical degree at the OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine. She is board certified in psychiatry and obesity medicine and has a special interest in community medicine and serious mental illness. After completing her residency at the OU School of Community Medicine, she’s served as the medical director for OU IMPACT, she’s worked with the Mental Health Association’s Mobile Medical Team, and she’s provided psychiatric consultation to the Sooner HAN. She also has a certificate in Community Psychiatry from the American Association of Community Psychiatrists.

Aaron Pierce

Aaron Pierce, DO

Approach to Treatment Resistant Depression

Dr. Aaron Pierce will be speaking on treatment resistant depression. Dr. Pierce is a clinical professor of psychiatry at Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences. He completed his medical degree at Oklahoma State University College os Osteopathic Medicine and is board certified in psychiatry. Additionally, Dr. Pierce is a faculty member with the OSU Department of Psychiatry and his clinical work includes: outpatient psychiatry, consultation-liaison psychiatry, and electroconvulsive therapy.

Target Audience and Program Objectives

This conference will provide specific / comprehensive overview of major advances in psychiatry and subspecialties geared specifically to physicians and healthcare providers. Content will address commonly encountered conditions with emphasis on review of emerging science and current clinical practice guidelines with practical strategies for integration of new concepts into daily clinical practice.

Accreditation Statements

Osteopathic Physicians: The Osteopathic Founders Foundation is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. The Osteopathic Founders Foundation designates this program for a maximum of six (6) AOA Category 1-A credits. The Osteopathic Founders Foundation will report CME credits for all osteopathic physicians who complete and return both an attestation form and program evaluation for all sessions attended. Credit will be commensurate with the extent of the physician’s participation in this activity.
