Education Stipends
To maintain compliance with IRS requirements, the Osteopathic Founders Foundation (OFF) has established a consistent standard for all medical education grants and stipends. This standard applies regardless of the funding source.
OFF educational grants and stipends are available to osteopathic physicians who are enrolled in an ACGME-accredited post-graduate training program with Osteopathic Recognition.
Educational grants and stipends are not automatically awarded but are granted by the OFF Medical Education Committee based on a letter of application submitted prior to the educational program to be supported.
These stipends provide partial support for rotations or other educational programs in which the resident or fellow participates in a component of scholarly activity.
Rotations or programs that are covered, or partially covered, by the sponsoring institution are not eligible for OFF stipends.
Application Guidelines
To be considered for an award, please submit a one-page letter of application at least four (4) weeks in advance of the educational program.
Your letter must include:
- Your name, credentials, place of employment, and position
- The name and description of the rotation or educational program
- The duration and location of the rotation or educational program
- A description of the scholarly activity you will complete, or the unique training opportunity the rotation provides
- A statement of your financial need and other sources of funding for the program
- A statement confirming the program is not covered or partially covered by the sponsoring institution
Preference will be given to qualifying applicants who have not previously received a stipend from the Osteopathic Founders Foundation.
Your letter of application must be co-signed by the Program Director.
Review and Payment Process
- The Medical Education Committee of the Foundation has final authority regarding the awarding of all grants and stipends.
- Applicants will be notified of approval or denial within two (2) weeks of submission.
- Payments will be issued after submission of:
- Evidence of successful completion of the approved program, and
- A completed W-9 form.
No payments will be issued in advance of the rotation or educational program.
